Rose Bradshaw’s (1996, London, United Kingdom) paintings and collages are concerned with framed emotional instances which are pulled out of their original context and re-assembled. Small moments that, she says, would otherwise go un-noticed.
Employing a minimalist Bauhausian bricolage approach, Bradshaw brings together the cut and the found by taking a form, shape, texture or colour out of its original context, manipulating it, and placing it in an entirely new environment. By applying this abstraction she creates a language formed from intensely personal moments.
Along with these abstracted forms, the works resonate with images culled from the imagination. From this ‘sea of possibilities’ Bradshaw manipulates the visual markers to create harmonious compositions that are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and open to varying interpretations.
